Apart from being the ultimate fashion accessory, the bridal bouquet can carry special meaning to the bride. Take a lesson from the Duchess of Cambridge and incorporate flowers that hold special meaning to both the bride and groom as Catherine demonstrated with her choice of Sweet William for her bouquet.

Do you and your partner have a favourite flower that means something special to you or is there a flower that symbolises something special in your family? Adding this special touch will help achieve an even more meaningful day.

If you have a special broach passed down from your grandmother, attach this to the ribbon on your bouquet. If your mother is an avid gardener, incorporate some of her freshly cut flowers into your bouquet. If you have a favourite perfume, add a little to your ribbon.

When choosing flowers for your bouquet, ask your florist to provide sample flowers that you can keep with you for a week to ensure you are happy with the look and smell of the flowers. Nothing is worse than arriving to your wedding and being surprised and disappointed in flowers thatr appear different ‘in person’ than in a photograph or magazine.

Finally, remember that you (and at times your bridesmaid) will be carrying the bouquet for many hours during the day. A very large and heavy bouquet may look amazing but may prove difficult to manage throughout the whole day.
